It was a great weekend for state of Michigan football. Michigan and Michigan State both won even though it was tough for both.
The Spartans continue to let the foot off the gas even though coach Mark Dantonio says teams are giving MSU their best shot. Watching Michigan’s offense is like pulling teeth. It is very painful and agonizing.
Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier was supposed to ride in from Alabama on his white horse. Instead it appears as if every Michigan quarterback is worse than a year ago and the Wolverines cannot score points.
** It was great to see Eastern Michigan win a MAC game and even greater to see Central Michigan win at Northern Illinois, a team that had not lost at home since 2009. During that span NIU has had wins over Iowa, Purdue and Kansas.
** I stuck my neck on my line and guaranteed a victory for Michigan. I cannot tell you any concrete reasons why. I simply had a feeling the Wolverines would find a way to win. They deserved it and maybe this takes a little bit of heat off of Hoke for the next two weeks.
Next stop is Spartan Stadium where Michigan needs to pull out all stops.
** And how about them Lions? They are winning with defense? Really?
** Read Lynn G. Henning’s piece at Detroitnews.com on Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. I won’t give it away but I still do not buy Ausmus’ bullpen explanations. Weak. He said he could not change some things. That’s funny. I was reading how managers still in the playoffs switched things up specifically for the playoffs.
** One more thing. What a great weekend we had. I loved it. Now don’t get too wet today.
