Just call me Chef Foster

Today is a big day.

I get to smoke my neighbor’s butt today.

OK. That did not come out right. Let me start all over. My neighbor Dani Duke is getting married Friday to her main squeeze Nick the Puck, a former hockey player at Lake Superior State. They are a cute couple and of course I wish them the best.

However, tonight is the rehearsal dinner and Duke and her mom Nancy Nurse asked me to make pulled pork as the main course. I was honored to do so and I seasoned two pork butts over night. The meat is raw and looks amazing already. I cannot wait to see what they look like cooked.

I know it will taste great because the Traeger smoker and grill that I got has not failed me yet. I’ve told you guys about this grill and it has changed my life. I’ve smoked and grilled prime rib, beef brisket, salmon, vegetables and now the rehearsal meal for Duke.

Go to traegergrills.com and then call Loren Clyburn (313-283-0854) who has a display at 12 Oaks Mall in Novi. Tell him I sent you and he will hook you up with some free stuff. I got the Lil Texas Elite.

I got my grill for Christmas and made some meats for the Coldren neighbors. They loved it so much that I made their Memorial Day brisket and they asked me to do today’s meal. I’ve been stunned by how good the food has been.

But like I said, I am honored to do this for Duke. Her dad Joe has bailed me out a number of times. If something breaks down, Joe puts on his goggles and lab coat and fixes it. If I need help moving something the strong arms come over and help. We were in the basement at 3 in the morning putting together an air hockey table for Christmas.

That is what neighbors are for.

This is the least I can do for a good group next door.

By the way, how do you get along with your neighbors?
