For now I do not buy reports that Pistons owner Tom Gores is ready to replace Joe Dumars with former back court mate Isiah Thomas.
It seems like a move Gores could make. But for now there are no happenings on the Pistons front. However. Thomas would make things interesting around here if he took the job. He is more of a gambler than Dumars. Whereas Dumars guides the ship at a nice 55 miles per hour, Thomas would be the guy gunning the motor up to 85 miles per hour, beeping his horn and switching lanes.
I don’t know if that is the right way, but there would never be a dull moment under the Zeke road rage.
Quite frankly, the Pistons need a shake up. There is no excuse for not only failing to make the playoffs but being this bad. The team never took shape and you can officially kiss the playoffs good bye, if that is what you wanted. Now the key is to sink far enough to keep the lottery protected draft pick to provide help for the future.
Many of you do not care about the team. You do not watch the team and it is so bad that you don’t even expend the energy to get mad about the team. The Pistons are that old uncle you used to house in the attic that you shoved food under the door three times a day to feed him.
Out of sight. Out of mind.
Gores is a very successful, flashy and happy go lucky guy. The Pistons are a dead weight around his ankles. I expect him to do something flashy and maybe even goofy during the off season. So Isiah to the Pistons could come into play. I even expect Gores to make a run at Michigan State coach Tom Izzo.
I’ve heard Gores is stunned that the Pistons were not better.
Now Gores is in desperation mode. Anything is possible.
