Nothing happened when I popped that trunk

I am ashamed to say that I became the suburban house wife at the mall Thursday night.

That is usually the woman that is in a hurry, juggling two kids and car seats and is trying to get them into carriages so she can whisk them through the cold into the warm stores. She usually leaves her back sliding door wide open or forgets to lower the back trunk.

I pulled off that stunt Thursday night during a visit to Eastern Michigan University to listen to students and faculty debate whether the school should keep football. I raised the hatch but did not lower it ion my way in. So my car was exposed for two hours for any criminal to have their way.

Luckily for me nothing happened. I see it all the time. Car doors are open. Hatches are open and I am normally like the students at EMU. I leave it alone, figuring somebody opened the doors for a reason. I am afraid to approach the cars because I fear some angry person will bum rush me and scream “I left that open for a reason you jerk.”

I’m thinking of changing my ways any way and helping people out. I would hate for somebody to lose their car or holiday packages because they left their trunk or doors open. I am vowing to risk getting yelled at and closing the door. If I get yelled at, then so be it.

I know you have run into the same problem. What do you do? Do you keep walking on by like me? Or do you go out of your way and risk getting yelled at?

I want to personally thank all the EMU students that could have had their way with my car. Thanks for not robbing the stupid brother suburban house wife who is in a hurry.
