Do not get too excited about the Lions first ever road win in Washington.
It is a win I expected more because of how bad Washington is rather than how good the Lions are. The Lions winning in D.C. was my bold ass prediction for the week.
The Lions won 27-20 Sunday but were a bobbled pass from trailing late in that game. They had same old Lions written all over them until the biggest play of the game.
The Lions led 20-17 in the fourth quarter when they faced a fourth down and inches. If they settled for a field goal to go up six points I swear they would have lost the game on a last minute touchdown and we’d scream “Same Old Lions” again.
Going for the first down was not a risk. They had to go for it. The Lions converted and the rest is history.
I won’t be making the same bold ass prediction this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. It is a huge game for them but it is also a big game for the Bears who are a better football team. But we shall see. The game is at Ford Field where magic sometimes happens.
(Join me Tuesday at Foster’s Smokehouse in Fraser for a grand opening celebration. We will have specials and I will be there at 6:30 pm for a ribbon cutting ceremony with city officials. Our food is good. I hope you enjoy it. The restaurant is located on Utica and 14 Mile Road.)
