We saw it again Saturday night when he hit a solo walk off home run to stun the Kansas City Royals 6-5 at Comerica Park. It was exciting and eye opening as downtown celebrated the victory along with a few concerts that made the place jump.
He followed that up by hitting his 40th Sunday during the Tigers 6-3 victory which gave them the series win. He now has 361 career home runs which ties him for 77th on baseball’s all-time list with Joe DiMaggio.
Nobody jumps higher than Cabrera although he is grounded with an assortment of injuries. He needs a rest but refuses to leave the lineup. He should be applauded for that. It adds to the magic.
Cabrera has a career .321 batting average with 361 home runs and 1,243 RBIs. He is better than Mr. Tiger Al Kaline and please spare me with the arguments of the guys that played before the color barrier. They were not playing against all of the best competition and the game was a lot different back then.
Cabrera is amazing and keeps getting better. He probably won’t repeat as Triple Crown winner but he is having a better season than last. He is batting .360 with 40 home runs and 115 RBIs through 120 games. Last season he batted .330 with 44 home runs and 139 RBIs.
He has batted in 100 runs 10 seasons in a row and has batted below .300 just twice in his career.
Best Tigers hitter of all time. I stand by that.
