Dirty Jerseys book signing to help Detroit homeless

I am looking forward to my Thursday book signing at Dirty Jerseys in Windsor. I do not get to hang in Windsor much and I am want to know what the fun factor is at the sports bar.

I will be there Thursday (7:30-9:30 pm) to sign my book 100 Things Tiger Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die. The books are $15 each or two for $25 and I plan to donate part of the proceeds to an organization that is helping the homeless in Detroit.

I am still deciding what direction to go in.

I have another Canadian book signing at Stars of the Game Aug. 16 in LaSalle, Ont. which is just south of Windsor.

** Readers of this blog know I have decided to support a Detroit organization that helps the homeless. I have narrowed my choices to two places. One is Heart 2 Hart Detroit, which distributes lunches and items of need to the homeless on the street. The other is the local Burners Without Borders which was started by a woman named Doxie Kaltz.

I wanted to stick with one organization but it is difficult to choose. Any help you can provide in helping me with the decision would be appreciated.

** I have spoken to a number of fantasy football people and we are going to host fantasy draft parties at my restaurant Foster’s Smokehouse in Fraser. The management will have pizza and drink specials. I will let you know when we will begin to take reservations. I am going to the Smokehouse Wednesday and will finalize the plans.

I will also have an exciting announcement to make regarding Foster’s Smokehouse and The D Las Vegas. The result could be a three-night stay for you at the D Las Vegas. Stay tuned.

Heart 2 Hart Detroit is an exceptionally worthy cause that would benefit greatly by being awarded the proceeds from your event. I’m sure that Burners without Borders is great, too, but I have witnessed the assistance that Larry Oleinick offers to the homeless around Downtown Detroit, and it is truly an inspired job he and his partner Ken Levy provide. I encourage you to share your generosity with Heart 2 Hart Detroit. Every penny will be well spent.

Burners Without Borders is an amazing organization! It’s a wonderful example of citizens helping citizens using direct action and community involvement. I’ve participated in backpack packing days and with the distribution of the packs. Changed the way I look at the extra things I happen to own, and also, how i look at my under-house neighbors that are labeled ‘homeless’.
An example of the type of world that I want to live in, for sure.
